New Project: Hourly Hot-Topic Autoblogs

So here’s an idea which I will try to implement this week:

1) Obtain RSS feed of Google’s hourly Hot Trends

2) Grab the first two or three

3) Search Google News, or Blog Search for content on the above hot trends

4) Post resulting topics to a set of autoblogs (different blog each hour)

5) Monetize… PROFIT!

Should be simple enough to code with PHP and a crontab entry. Any bright ideas on monetizing (apart from Adsense of course)?

    I have been doing this the manual way and been pretty successful from a celebrity standpoint…

    Hi Steve,

    Yes I’ve got a working script functioning. It’s posting to about 5 blogs every hour at the moment. When I get some time I’ll register a bunch more blogs and add them to the list.

    Even if the blogs themselves don’t earn me much money, I should be able to benefit from inserting a bunch of links to my other websites and improving my SERPs.

    Hi Sukh,

    It’s working, in the sense that it functions… it’s not exactly a money spinner at the moment, but I have noticed some of my pages getting linked to from other blog scrapers, which should benefit me in terms of linkbaiting.

    The script itself is quite flakey. It requires attention to keep it working correctly, so it’s not really suitable for distribution. If I can clean it up a bit and make it more robust then I’ll publish it.

    If you know some php it shouldn’t be difficult to create something very similar. Look up how to parse RSS feeds with php5 and simpleXML() (it’s really easy). Posting the resulting content to a blog couldn’t be simpler… blogspot lets you email posts to your blog, so you simply rotate through a bunch of email addresses in your php script for each post.
